Academic Leadership at SIU Carbondale

The Office of the Provost at Southern Illinois University is committed to fostering the success of our students, faculty, staff, and alumni through servant leadership. Reporting directly to the Chancellor, the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs collaborates to set academic programs and priorities that align with the university’s mission, while ensuring the effective allocation of resources to support these goals. The Office oversees a wide range of academic activities, from faculty development and academic budgeting to technology, assessment, program review, and international student affairs. Working in partnership with our colleges, schools, and units, we are dedicated to advancing the success of the entire University community.

Dr. Sheryl A. Tucker serves as the Provost, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Chief Academic Officer of Southern Illinois University. Supporting the academic affairs enterprise are associate provosts: Dr. Juliane Wallace, Associate Provost for Academic Administration, Dr. Julie K. Dunston, Associate Provost for Academic Programs and Dr. Shelly Gehrke, Associate Provost for Student Success. Together, they oversee key academic and student initiatives and ensure the continued success in SIU’s educational mission.
